Youth announcements

Hello Pathway youth and parents.

We have a few updated announcements this week.

First, and most importantly, we are trying something new this year for paying for church camp. We are starting up accounts for those families who would like to start paying for camp now. If you start paying $7 a week, camp will be paid for.  Beth is going to hold accounts for those who would like to start paying and preparing now for camp. We are going to send out a flyer and we will have two parent meetings to give more information and answer any questions or concerns you may have. We are hoping this will be a good way to help families pay for their kids to go to camp.

Second, we are looking at doing our fall camping trip at LBL October 5-7.  We will have more details about this as the time gets closer.

Third, the youth leaders are going to begin to work harder at growing relationships with our youth. Our youth will expect to begin to see some of us at school eating lunch with them and randomly asking to spend some individual time with them. This will be same gender time together.  We feel our relationships with the kids are extremely important and we are wanting to invest more time with them. This should start sometime in September, so be on the lookout!!

Finally, as our youth know, we are doing a Wednesday night series on unity and we want to put some action on this. In September, we are going to have Sunday night hang-outs. This will be after Sunday night church for those who can come and hang-out for awhile. The students will need a ride home. These hang-outs are to build life-long relationships and friendships with each other. These may take place at the youth leader homes, youth room, dairy queen, or other places that we come up with. This is not an official event, it's just hanging out together for awhile.  So be on the lookout for more information on this.

Well, there you have it! There are a few updated announcements that you may want to know about.

August/September Happenings

Hello Pathway Youth!

Here are some upcoming events going on in youth.

First, we are going to Muddin' for Missions on Sat., August 25.  We will be leaving Pathway at 7:30 a.m. and returning around 3ish (depending on how long the tournaments last). There are a few important items that you will NEED to bring. First of all, you will need some money. The total expense of this trip is $21. That breaks down into three parts: $7 for ticket, $4 for food, and $10 for a shirt. If you do not want a shirt, take $10 off of the total. Second, you need to wear clothes that you don't mind being stained for life or thrown away. The mud stains do not come out.  Last, but not least, you need to bring an extra pair of clothes to change into and a towel to dry off with. If you have any questions, call Kevin.  It is a really fun time for a really good cause.  We hope to see you there!

Second, Melissa and Alison are heading up a back-to-school girls all-nighter. This is on September 7-8 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 a.m.  You will need to bring money for food.  Some of the scheduled events are a photo scavenger hunt, nails getting done, Disney movie, food, and lots of fun. Don't forget to bring a friend. If you have any questions, call Melissa or Alison.

Third, we are going to Calvert Drive-in to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days on September 15th. We will leave the church around 7pm and return after the movie around 9:30-10ish. The cost of the movie is $5 plus a little more if you want food or drinks.

Well, these are a few of the happenings going on for August and September. Hope to see you there!!!

Eyes on Jesus
We write this entry with gratitude.  As most of Pathway Baptist Church already knows Ruthanne and I with our sons, Nate and Zeke, are moving to Minneapolis.  Ruthanne beginning a teaching role as professor of philosophy at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
As is right and fitting our gratitude first and foremost is for Jesus Christ’s lordship of our lives.  We are grateful to have served our savior as youth pastor at Pathway Baptist these past eight years.  We know that God brought us together and with the body of Christ at Pathway to make His name famous.  I trust that as God has used us to cultivate in this generation hearts that are alive to Christ.  With us and with all of us involved in the youth ministry at Pathway, I have faith that Jesus will continue to work His will and His way.
We are grateful to the members of Pathway having entrusted us to lead the youth over these past years.  I believe that God will continue to empower His people to accomplish His work as they continue to seek His heart.  We have made dear friends at Pathway and will be heart-warmed to hear that Christ continues to empower you to call others to faith and Christian maturity.
We are grateful, not the least, to the youth of Pathway.  I pray that you will long to see a fresh movement of God in your generation.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.

I close with the verses below as a fitting benediction:

Hebrews 11: 39 – 12:2a   39)   All of these people we have mentioned received God's approval because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.  40) For God had far better things in mind for us that would also benefit them, for they can't receive the prize at the end of the race until we finish the race.  1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.  2) We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. (NLT)
